The Banana Peel Project

I just had to share this.  About half of the traffic that The Banana Peel Project gets from search engines is people who are looking for an answer to what is perhaps the greatest question ever posed by household psychonauts: do banana peels have psychedelic properties?

Well, as it turns out, lycaeum.org has a pretty great set of instructions for how to do so if you’re so inclined.  Although the instructions are quite clearly intended to be humorous, something tells me that there is more than a handful of intrepid travelers out there who, perhaps disappointed (or even transformed) by their recent nutmeg experience, nevertheless take it quite seriously.

Yes, it’s true.  I looked up the structure, and it turns out bannadine is really closely related to DMT — it has carbon atoms and everything!
