wait a minute here.
isn’t revolution supposed to happen from the “bottom,” the “roots,” the “people”?
i mean, you’d never call a military coup a “revolution.” that’s why you call it a “coup.”
you know, the folks who live farthest away from the walls, out in the fields, the first to be burned when the invaders came.
they’re always thinking, at least entertaining the possibility, that they’d be better off in someone else’s care.
yeah, i’m pretty sure that the story goes that way.
so it’s tax day, and the court is up in arms. their loyalty to the King is not being rewarded with gold, but punished with this “tax.” a vicious word, a cruel joke.
they bitterly tally and sign and hand over their gold.
but it’s tax day in the fields, too. out here everyone’s adjusted gross income is far below the bracket, and everyone gets an extra bag of gold from the King, a “re-fund.”
so here, potential revolutionaries gleefully tally and sign, but they hand over no gold.
i’m not sure what all this means, maybe there’s a lesson here.
anyway, i’m off to pay my credit card bill.

Hi Brad,
I ran across your webpage and was I must say extreemly impressed by what I read. I found it a little bit perplexing that no one has commented on your posts. I paticularly like this post here about taxes. Fotunatly for me I got money back this year but my parents on the other hand owed. It seems to be much harder these days to claim things. I can’t imagine what those who own property must have payed not to mentioned those untold millions who had to file extensions because the couldn’t afford to pay right away. My grandfather was only a few years younger than I am when the Depression began. I keep thinking what it would be like if I had to drop out of school and work (or box like he did) for food. Lets hope things don’t get to that point. Anyhow, keep up the good work, and I will be keeping my radar out in the future for more posts. Oh by the way I have a blog (its about what else; Film Preservation), if you have a minute you should check it out and tell me what you think. It’s kanzalone.wordpress.com. Talk to you later.
