Shattered safety glass

A net of edges
A spider’s inside-out web
Lines that refuse to stay straight
A transparent plane
Zillions of pieces, round or dodecahedral
There’s nothing but differences
In shattered safety glass
But you say there must be some reason
Even an accident of design
Because a net of edges
Does nothing if not resist
Gravity, power, wind
But you say that’s what made it so
A net of edges
The potential for action of air and ganglia
Not to mention gravitational potential energy
Fractured the formless frame and gave it a shape
Even if it’s nothing but differences
Weaving through shattered safety glass
Maybe it was wind, or maybe it was me
A medium that didn’t mediate
Until I slipped on a banana peel
A sudden loss of potential produced a spike of activity, where
Zillions of glittering shards, sticky in their safety glass skin
Exploded
And showed me a reflection of self
In shattered safety glass
