Faking it: the art of Pop

The Producer, the Painter, the Pop Artist. Not reproduction through art but art through reproduction. The Hyperconformist simulating the very mechanisms of the System in order to destroy, reassemble. Identity, infinitely reproduced, becoming a silkscreened icon of immortality. Hypocrisy, Fame, Lies: the only way out.

The Rebel, the Prophet, the Pop Star. Only one side: the other side. The Nonconformist rejecting the Totality, regardless of what it’s saying. The Self, formed and reformed. Hypocrisy, Fame, Lies: the only way out.

It wasn’t about Edie. It wasn’t about the Factory.

It wasn’t the Musician vs. the Artist. It wasn’t the American Man vs. the Fag. It wasn’t the Liar vs. the Teller of Truths.

It was about where people hide when there’s nowhere to go.
