French DJ Alex Gopher’s music video “The Child” is a beautiful and fascinating typographical story. A young couple rushes through city streets, taxis zoom past, and skyscrapers tower over the busy metropolis, and it’s all assembled from text. The music is pretty, the story is cute, and it’s a great look at how text can be repurposed as both structure and form. It’s an interesting look at labels and how word strings can stand in–disconcertingly–for identity.
