Interactive Universe

I just stumbled across this amazing interactive project which toys with our ideas of size and our physical place in the Universe.

I continue to be amazed by the power of clever visualizations, especially interactive ones, to communicate in the language of science.

A million thanks to Information Aesthetics for finding and posting this.

(The image is a capture of a supercomputer simulation of a galaxy cluster done last year by Andrey Kravtsov and others at the University of Chicago as part of the ongoing investigation of the role of dark matter in the evolution of the Universe.)
